GFWC-NC Fundraising & Scholarship Updates/African Safari

Federation Friday: Volume 2, Issue 38 - March 20, 2020

GFWC-NC Fundraiser

Each year we look forward to our convention fundraiser. It is beneficial to us as an organization. It is creative and always fun! Last year we enjoyed an inspirational woman contest that we will never forget.

We regret that we will not be together for this year’s fundraiser. We are adapting and trying something new to support the long-term health of our organization. It’s a REVERSE RAFFLE and here is how it works:

1. Tickets and recording sheets have been mailed to each District President, Executive Committee Officer, and Fundraising Chairman Cindy Hewett.

2. Please join in the fun and purchase a ticket. When you reach out via e-mail to these individuals, include your name and phone number. They will confirm and provide you details.

3. You can also mail your check(s) to GFWC-NC headquarters; 7474 Creedmoor Road #310 Raleigh, NC 27613. It must be postmarked by April 14, 2020. Please include reverse raffle in the memo line.

4. Drawings will be held on Saturday, April 18th. Be sure to check out the winners on Facebook.

5. When you purchase tickets, you will have the opportunity to win: $25, $50 or $500! Every 10th ticket drawn wins $25. Every 25th ticket drawn wins $50. Final ticket drawn will win $500!

6. A bonus – 1st ticket drawn will be placed back in the drawing, so they have a second chance to win.

7. Invite family and friends to participate. You can purchase multiple tickets for multiple chances to win!

8. Thanks so much for your participation!

Sally Southall Cotten Scholarship

With the recent events related to COVID-19, the Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship Interviews scheduled for Saturday, March 21st are cancelled. They will be rescheduled. The date has yet to be determined.

With the adjustments and/or closings for the UNC University System, local schools, intercollegiate athletics, and public facilities, along with others, it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel the interviews. Pending further changes over the next few weeks related to COVID-19, we’ll be back in touch to reschedule the interviews.

The GFWC-NC Scholarship Committee members Ellen Patterson, Dottie Jennings, Andie Johnson, Georgann Athaneaelos Sapp, and Frances Lewis thank you for your patience.
