Scholarships

Scholarships are provided annually by GFWC-NC. Information is available through local women's clubs or from Federation Headquarters.


Mary K. Paul Whitener Piano Scholarship

March 1 is the application deadline for the District Scholarship Chairman to have the district scholarship winner's name and information in the hands of the GFWC-NC Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship Chairman. (no form on-line).  For application form, rules and the chairman's name, see GFWC -NC Administration Book.  If a District Arts Festival is postponed and the deadline cannot be met, the District Scholarship Chairman should notify the GFWC-NC Chairman immediately.

Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship

Awarded to an outstanding high school senior (male or female) who will graduate from an accredited high school in North Carolina and is sponsored by a Federated Club. The scholarship this administration will be $22,000: $5,500 per year for four years.

Criteria for scholarship judging shall be based on character, scholastic record, demonstration of ambition and leadership, potential to succeed and financial need. Students must have a scholastic record which places them in the upper fourth of their class.
